Mr. Meares, manage; of the Coastal Farmers' Co-Operative Sodiety, of New .Soutl) Wales, believes that the best of the pine meets this demand, and-'that much of the inferior must of nccpssitj be drami into. the butter-box niakinc, Ah alropst illexhaustible quantity of-white wood (possessing all tho essentials of' pine without its' resinous defect) is obtainahlo from Northern Europe,' and it is suggested by Mr. Meares that from this source a largo auxiliary' supply of excellent boxes can bo obtained at lower prices than New Zealand.
