The result of tho "pigeon Derby" from Nantes (France) to Lancashire —approximately 450 miles —in wjiich over 7000 birds participated, was officially . announced on July 11. . Tiio first three winners are: — 1. Mr. T. Dobson (Milnthorpe), 1440 yards per minute. 2., Mr. Hutchinson (North-West Lancashire Federation), 1437 yards por minute. - 3. Mr. J. R. Lord (Bacup), 1423 yards per minute. This is not tho first time that Mr. Dobson has gained distinction in pigeon flying. In 1904, with his ' champion blue chequer pigeon Briton, ho was the winner _of tho first Lancashire-Nantes race, in which 4108 birds competed. The name of'the winning pigeon, a red j cock, is Gallant.
