SEVENTY-YEAR-OLD PET TO THE RESCUE. J3ostock's Junglo at Earl's Court was the scene on July 16 of another unusual surgical operation. On- Julv 14, Sivaj tho half-bred Indian woman who exhibits tho crocodiles, slipped and fell into their tank. Tho pationt, who was a nowcomor in tho ta.nk, immediately attacked her with open, jaws, only'to, be. set' upon,'in turn by Siva's sovonty-year-old pet alligator, who rusted to defend her. In tho battle wliicli ensued the younger alligator's lower jaw was completely fractured.... Tho operation consisted in applying a padotl splint along the . under surface of tho lower jaw after the wound had been carefully sterilised. The splint, which , will bo kept on for. a month, is held in place by adhosive plaster strapping bound round tho jan: and passing over tno tonguo. I
