A strange coincidence in connection with tho recont fire at the Onehunga station is that Mr. W. M. Cole, the stationmastcr; dreamt about.'it two nights previous to the outbreak,, and saw the engines rescued in precisely tho manner in which :they really were taken from the burning shed. As a precaution in-case of fire a new hose was brought from Auckland, the day before the occurrence, and attached to the shed. Twenty soldiers of the, second regiment of colonial infantry at Brest who were" undergoing punishment in tho barrack • lock-up mutinied and barricadcd themselves in their cells. In order to reduce them to submission a hole had to bo bored through the coiling, and they wore deluged with firo-liosca until tho water reached to their waist*.
