Reporting on the result of is analysis, the Government Analyst ■ says the proved percentage of proof spirit in all tho liquors was above the standard required by the regulations with respect to tho Sale of food and Drugs Act of 1907. Tho samples, which _ were all ! half-pints, were too small to permit of tho most exhaustive' analysis being mado. Tho results obtained however, indicated that the simples of gin in two instances had been made from grain spirit, though the larger ' proportion of gin was not so made. Several of the brandy samples were not genuine, but wero proved to contain a large proportion of grain spirit Ihe .wmsuy samples appeared to bo of good quality, but in. tho absence of information as to tiiG brands of each it was • impossible to say whether the'samples are what they wero sold as. In conclusion the Analyst reported that it the brandies had been ; sold as cognacs, action against the licensees of the hotels could have been taken either under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act or through the Licensing Committee S
