Western Liberal member's in the Dominkm House of Commons, and a few Liberal Senators, have formed a Low Tariff League within the party with the object of resisting any further increases in the tariff, and of scouring all possible reductions. They believe in the principle of a tariff for revenue purposes only, as opposed to the principle of Protection. Tho league represents mainly tho opinion of Western farmers, where manufacturing interests aro comparatively tuiimportant, but it will carry little weight in Eastern Canada, where a Protective polioy, is . generally acccpted. .
