THE NEW DAIRY SEASON.
Cows are beginning to corao to profit (says' our Feilding .correspondent), and there is every promise for an early start of the milking season. There is likely to bo a substantial increase in the supply ■of cream to tho Cheltenham Dairy Company's factory, as several settlers who had abandoned dairying for a while and went in for .sheep have resolved to go back to milking.' In- consequence of the visit of the Dairy Inspector to the. Waiata district, the sheds and, yards will be in much better condition, this'year. Some milkers are' already concreting, and the milking yards are to be furbished.up generally. Grass is coming'away freely, and there will shortly be abundaiice of green pastures for stock. ' In the Bush Districts (says our Pahiatua correspondent) the country looks well, and although glass is not yet too plentiful, stocks are mostly in good condition. Already a fair number of cows are inland, some of. tho factories are takingX in what «iay. bo considered a good quantity, of milk for, this time of the year. It is anticipated that .by the end of the month there will bo a sufficient supply 'to allow of- the balance of the creameries commencing operations on the first of next, month. ' There have been a good number of stock sales, of late,' and any good cows hav3 brought good , prices, which looks as if the purchasers have a cheery • anticipation, for. the incoming season.
