PRIVES OF DAIRY STOCK.
The prices obtained the other day per head for the dairy herd of Mr. Joseph Shaw, of South Feathcrston, writes our Wairarapa correspondent, seem to bo a fair indication of the value of good dairy stock at the present time. The herd properly comprised 26 cows, mixed breeds, and with a test tho second highest last season at tho Feathcrston cheese factory. The animals were in generally good dairy cow condition, and wero earU calvers. The average prieo reached wa; just on six guineas per head; the highest price for any one beast was £8, the lowest The average is tho highest so far re.icl'ed at a dairy stock sale this season in tin Wairarapa, but not so high as was readied at a similar sale held recently at Bongomai, near Eketahuna. It does not seem as if dairy stock were going to be very dear, after all, this season. ; Farmers are loth to buy unless tho cottj are almost immediately ready for. tho miiking bails. It is expected that prices will harden somewhat during the next three weeks.
