AGAINST AUSTRALIAN INSCRIBED STOCK" POWER TO TRANSFER.;. OBJECTIONS BY BROKERS AND BANKERS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT ) (Rec. 4.30 p.m.) Ir'.tondon, August 8. Thirty-two stockbrokers, comprising all dealers in colonial securities on the London Stock Exchange, signed a memorial to Mr. T. A. Coglilan,. tlio Agent-General for New South Wales, expressing unqualified disapproval of tho proposal that inscribed stocks on tho Australian Register should be transferable to London. The memorialists declaro that it would bo impossible to make prices or hold large amounts of stock as they now do, if at any moment further unknpjvn quantities might be thrown upon tlio market. There would cease to bo a free market, and Australian securities, being no longer reliable at any time within a small range of prices, would lose favour with bankers, insurance companies, and tho investing public. Mr.' Coghlan gave a sympathetic reply, the matter being referred to his Government. The, memorial was supported by tho Bank ofEngland and tho Westminster .Bank.
