KINO'S STATUE AT OXFORD.
Tlio proposal to erect a' statue of the King at. Oxford has resulted in the organising of a-strong committco to undertake: the raising of funds. St. John's College authorities havo been approached with theobject of giving leave for tho erection of: the statue on a triangular piece of ground in St. Giles, tho ■widest thoroughfare in the .city,, and have given a .favourable reply. Tho cost of the statue, is estimated at upwards of £2000. Tho figure of the King; 'arrayed, in tho uniform of a Fiold-Mnrshai, ivill be in bronze, on a pedestal of granite, or'sandstono. 'On cither side'are to bo ■ allegorical groups. At present there is no statue of , any kind in tlip streets of Oxford. v- ' ■
