ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
CYCLIST'S SUDDEN END. FALLS DOWN IN RIDDIFORD STREET. An elderly, man named Joseph Day, 58 years of ago, met with an accident which terminated fatally yesterday afternoon. It is stated that Mr. Day, who was employed by the Wellington Gas Company, was seen cycling slowly up Riddiford Street about 2;2S p.m. oil his way from his home in Broomhedgo Street, and when opposite the Newtown Hotel was noticed suddenly to fall off his machino and strili'p his head against a verandah post. Dr. Kemp was in the vicinity, and within a couple of minutes made'an examination of the prostrato man, but, found that ho was past help. < Deceased's head was only slightly injured by tho fall, and from tlio manner in which ho fell it is thought that ho may havo died from heart failure. Constable Kerr removed the body to tlio morgno, where an inquest will bo held this afternoon. Mr. Day was a married man. , DROWNING ACCIDRNT.
