VIOLENCE IN INDIA.
TILAK SENTENCED. APPROVAL OF MURDERS AND BOMBS. (BY TELEGRAM —PitESS ASSOCIATION —COFYRI3H T.) Calcutta; .July 23. . The jury, by a majority of 'seven to two, found B. G. Tilak, Extremist Leader, guilty of sedition, and he was scntence'd .to- sis years' transportation and was fined one thousand rupees. The trial lasted eight days, Tilak's address occupying six. 1 Judge Davar stated that the articles seethed with sedition, that they preached violence, approved murders, and approved tho employment of bombs. The printer of tho paper "Jugantar" was sentenced to three years' imprisonment at Calcutta, in addition to a previous Bentonco of two and a half years, for inciting to rebellion and murder. The jury consisted of seven Europeans and two Parsces.
