PROTECTION OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the committee of the Society for' the Protection of Women and Children was held in the society's rooms yesterday afternoon, Mrs. W. ,A. Evans presiding. ' The members present were Mesdapes Izard, Kirkcaldie, and Fell. A number of cases that weie being investigated were reported on, and further action determined on with -regard to others. Subscriptions were received from the following, and acknowledged with thanks:—Messrs. Stewart Dawson and Co. and A. S. Patorson, £1 Is. each; Mossrs. Benjamin and Co., 10s. 6d.; Mr. T. Ballinger arid Mrs.. Bannister, 10s. each; Mr. H. Wardell, Messrs. Hayman and Co.; Mrs. A. de B.Brandon, Mrs. J. Ashcroft, Mr. P. Ashcroft, H. and W. and Co., Wellington Woollen Co., anil Mrs. C. Izard, ss. each.
