LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
PULPIT IN ST. PAUL'S, WELLINGTON. Sir, —I think I can set at rest the question raised as to tho connection between this pulpit and any memorial of Bishop Selwyn. In the parish report for ihe year ended Juno 30, 1876, is tho folowinlg: "A handsomo pulpit has been added to tho fittings of tho Church, and supersedes tho unsightly and not very safe temporary structure raised' for the accommodation of tho officiating clergyman," and in tho parish accounts for that year appears tho item: "Pulpit, £53." I was ono of the churchwardens at tho tjme, and if there had been any conncction with tho memory of Bishop Selwyn I am suro it would havo been stated in the report, and I am suro I should have remembered it. I think Mr. Sprott is .probably ridit, and that St. Paul's, Auckland, is the church referred to. —I am, otc., CHAS.P. POWLES. July 7: '
