WALLACE TESTIMONIAL FUND.
■ . —»- _ A-,meeting. of the executive of the Wallace Testimonial Fund was held last evening at Messrs. Brown, and .Thomson's office. Mr. ?' (chairman) wrote apologising for his absence owing to ; parliamentary duties. Mr. Coffey was elected to the chair and appointed, permanent deputy chairman. Messrs. R. Armit, James .Bimuag, and. J. I£emgan wero made additional executive committeemen. It was decided to have some 20,000 circulars and 1000 donation ' lists printed-'for distribution through the colony. It was resolved to invite the co-operation of the,sporting editors of the various newspapers throughout the colony, also that the Athletic Park ho canvassed and circularised for subscription's on Saturday next, the occasion of the Melrose v. Poneke match. It 'was decided that , all lists for subscriptions closo 011 Saturday, October 31'.' Messrs. E. W. Arnold, • jun., and J. .Reich were appointed auditors to tho fund. Messrs. Thomson and Brown outlined their system of organisation. Tho executivo desire 'it to bo known they are willing to receivo further subscriptions or suggestions. Mr. E. W. Arnold, ' jun., was' appointed press reporter to tho Fund. We have to acknowledge receipt of a sum of £1 Is. from Mr. E. Arnold, jun., towards : the testimonial which is being raised for W. J. Wallace, tho New Zealand and Wellington representative footballer, who has 'just refrom tho game. Our football representative will be pleased to acknowledge any further sums whioh may be forwarded to this office.
