Auckland,' July 8. . -Th? s P e ,°, |a l Conciliation Board appointed in; connection . with .the -tramway strike of MayJasfc opened its sittings at'the Supremo .Court Buildings to-day; The morning was occupied m settling questions of procedure, it being decided that;.tho Board could not give a final and binding decision relative to ;the Wo clauses added to the statement of dispute since the •striko,. which clauses related 'td the brake equipment of cars and .glass fronts ,for -the; motorman's platform ,As .the-brake-equipment 'is to bo the subject,: of inquiry: ■ by the Government, tho Union withdrew these clauses; Tho case for the Union...was : opened by;-Mr. A. Kossor. ,and m the .afternoon; the evidence of exconductors'was led to show that thero was friction;of;long standing.in the servico, and inspectors ' were called to testify to the methods of supervision which have been objected to% the Union'.- . The Board will resume its sitting tomorrow. /
