(FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENTS.) MASTERTON. There is a well authenticated rumour that the Masterton Trust Lands Trust is going to have further trouble over the business of. tho proposed exchango of sites with the Government. The proposal has been beforo tho public for some years, and last year it was narrowed down to a 'demand from the Government for £1000, if tho State exchanged its Queen Street jiolico ofßco section for an area on Hall Street, where, it was suggested a new courthouse should bo built. Later, the Trust Lands Trust proposed to add another section of land in lieu of tho £1000, and the Minister for Justico (the Hon. Mr. M'Gowan) said he would givo an answer after he had had tho Queen Street property revalued. Tlio property has been valued .at something approaching £100 per foot, upon which' basis the Trust Lands/Trust will still have to givo a largo sum; irf addition to its present land offers, if the exchange is to be made. The Trust has not yet had a ny_ official intimation on tho subject, but it is stated that some members have had unofficial advice, and it is understood that an effort will be mndo to persuade the Government to-revert back to its original offer.
. . , 'feilding. Five cyclists were hefore the Police Court on Tuesday morning charged with riding bicycles on the borough footbaths. They all pleaded guilty, and a fine of 2s. 6d. with 7s. costs ivas inflicted in each case. Two of the lawbreakers pleaded justification on account of the bad stato of the roads. Sergeant Bowden. said tho police would like to get more assistance from the Bench in the way of a heavier fine. Mr. Thos'. Coker, who lias disposed of his form off the Foilding-Ashhiirst Road, and, with his brothers and sisters, is removing this week to the Foxton district, was entertained at a church social in Feilding by members of the local Primitive Methodist Church. The Wanganui Girls' College "A" and "B" hockey teams are to visit Feilding on Saturday noxt. The "A" team will engage a team from the Feilding Girls' Hockey Club, and the "B" team are to play , the High School girls during the last quarter. There are eighty children • attending the Feilding High School who havo not missed a single half-day in' their attendance. 'At the Feilding School Committed meeting on Moilday night the matter was referred to, and it was decided to vote a sum of money wherewith to purchase awards for these exemplary pupils. ' Mr. R. A. S. Browne, dairy instructor for the Wanganui Education Board, left Feilding on Wednesday to take up his residence in Hawora. • Mr. Browne' is to tako charge of the northern technical district of tho Board in addition to his work as an instructor. Mr. Fred Pirani (chairman), of Feilding, has been re-elected to the AVanganui Education Board unopposed for a further term of three years. He has been a member for, some fifteen years. '
