WELLINGTON SHAKESPEARE CLUB.

COMPETITION FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS. For two years past tho Wellington Shakespeare Club has held a reading competition 'amongst tho pupils of the State primary schools in Wellington, tho competition being confined to thoso schools defined by tho Education Board as city schools. It has now been decided by tho committee to extend the scopo of this competition by including tho lioman Catholic primary schools that are within tho scono of the. same boundary. Representations having been mado that these schools aro working under the same syllabus as the State schools, tho wholo matter was referred to a sub-committee for consideration, and tho decision now arrived at is tho result of their roport. That these competitions havo become popujar is shown by tho generally expressed desiro that secondary schools should also be considered. It has, therefore, been decided to establish a competition in which all the secondary schools in Wellington shall bo invited to take part, and a notification to that effect will shortly bo forwarded to such schools. Tho following sub-committeo has been appointotd to arrange the details and fix the dates of both competitions;— Misses England, HardingeMaltby, Richmond, Messrs. J. W. Joynt, G. Toogood, and P. P. Webb.
