Representatives of friendly societies asked the Government to accept investments of tho societies' funds, amounting to £1,700,000, at 4 per cent. The Premier, Mr. Bent, replied that tho Government would want no. monoy for tho noxt five years, and then not much. Ho would recommend Cabinet.'to give 3£ per cent, on the money.
