Count Zeppelin's new airship, 450 foot long, with IS persons aboard, including Princo Georgo of Bavariaj crossed Lake Constanco to Friodrichshavon .at a height of 300 feet. Tho airship was manoeuvred with ease, and showed that sho was easily ablo to riso and descend. I A CONTRACT WITH GERMANY. A Stuttgart advico dated February 7 states:— Aftor tho famous ascents of No. 3 balloon woro completed in October of last year, Count von Zoppolin began the construction of fto. 4, partly undertaken on bohalf of the Government and partly in ordor to demonstrate some further possibilities of his system of rigid construction—namoly, tho power of landing on the ground, of attaining a height of, gay, '1000 ft., and of making voyages oxtonding over at least 24 hours. In tho building of tho new air/ship full advantage will bo taken, of the experience gainod with the former vessels, and, should the stipulated conditions bo fulfilled, the Gorman Government , will pay tho sum of J3107.500 in addition to tho ,£25,000 alreadyexpended on the iron structure for tho reception of tho balloon. Tho Reichstag voted .on January 29 for the purchase of two airships, and by way of compensation to Count von Zeppelin, together with, tho iurther sums of ,£20,000 for his contributions to the science of aeronautics and .£22,000 for. the .establish mont of a meteorological telegraphic service. •
