Press Association telegram from Wairoa, Mr. Leslie Reynolds, O.E;, arrived there on Sunday and inspected the. Wairoa bar yesterday. Mr. Arthur H. Vilo will be a candidate to represent the Wairarapa district at the coming election of three representatives for the Wellington Education Board. Mr. R.' W.' Tho session of Chalmers Church has forwarded a motion to the ohurch in Burlington requesting them. to extend the period further, if possible. . : A pleasant little function took place at tho close of business at the Audit. Richardson, Audit Officers, wero presented with a silver tea service and marble clock respectively (both being. suitably inscribed), - with the best wishes of the staff on their approaching, marriages. In a felicitous specch, Mr. J. K. Warburton, Controller and Auditor-Goneral congratulated" tho recipients, and wished them. long life and happiness. Mr. J. B. Hey wood. Assistant Controller, also wished theni success. Tho recipients suitably responded, ' after which they were congratulated by their brother officers. 1

On Friday afternoon a very pleasing incident took place in the tea rooms of Messrs. Kirkealdie and Stains, Ltd., when Miss Tendall, on behalf, of the tea room staff, presented to Miss Boyd, on the occasion of hor approaching marriage, a very handsomo tea service. During the course of a neat littlo speech, Miss Tendall mentioned the pleasure afforded to tho staff and; herself by the opportunity of showing the respect and high esteem in, which Miss Boyd had always been held during tho Ave years she had been an employee of the firm. They all joined'her in wishing- Miss Boyd every happiness and a prosperous future. ■ As a personal appreciation of Miss Boyd, Miss Tendall presented her with'a pair of handsome pictures.
