For tlio past two or three months a number of Wellington people bavo been zealously conducting a- bridge tournamont. This camo to a happy end on Tuesday night, when Mrs. T. Young gave a bridge party, fallowed b.v a dance at her homo in Murphy Street. The winners of the ladies' tournament were Miss Tolhurst, first; and Miss F. Stafford, sccond; while in the men's competition, Dr. Milsom was first, and Mr. T. Young, second. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Salmon, of Wellington, are to leave on a trip to London by the Corinthic on July 16. • ■ Mr. H. R. Wright, who captained the New Zealand team of professional footballers on tbeir recent tour, was married at Potone yesterday afternoon to Miss L. Fleet, of that town. Miss Elsie Watson is leaving Wellington at the'beginning of July, for a visit to Sydney. She will probably bo away for somo months. Yesterday : afternoon, at St. Paul's ProCathedral, Mr. Guy EL. Scholefield was married to Miss Adela Lucy Stapylton Bree, daughter of the late Mr. Miles Reginald Bree, of Southland, and Mrs. Breo, of Fitzherbert Terrace, Wellington. Tho Rev. T. H. Sprott officiated. Tho bride- wore a travelling ■ costumo. Miss Scholefield, sister of tho bridegroom, acted as bridesmaid. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. B. S. Bree,' and Mr. H. T. B. Drew was best man. The largo army of girl clerks employed at the Government Buildings have frequent •opportunities of meeting and making friends with each other as they go to and from their work in that vast hive of a building which is the prido of tho Wellington resident, and when one of these girls is transferred to' another town she is missed by all her comrades. Miss Woodhouse, who has been for several years in tho Land and Survey Department, has been transferred to Dunedin, and her girl friends in the Buildings entertained her yesterday afternoon at tea at Godber's Rooms, Cuba Street, whero a very pleasant time was spent, several of the guests contributing songs and recitations and musical items. On behalf of the women clerks in the Buildings, Miss Orr presented Miss Woodhouso with a.- silver manicure set. Those who took part-in the afternoon's entertainment were Miss Palmer (who gave a recitation), Misses Graves, Cooke, Grant, and Windson (who contributed pianoforte solos), Misses Graves and Webb (who saug), and tho Misses Clyde and Horrell, whoso clever little comediettas were much appreciated
