A HOME DEPARTMENT. Olio important matter discussed was the establishment of .". Home Department, the objects of which woro embodied in a draft scheme brought beforo the meeting. Theso woro: — (1) To bring parents more directly into touch with Sunday school work, and with the methods and aims of .religions'instruction. (2) To reach scholars who aro unable to attend Sunday school. (3) To add to the ordinary roll of tho school. • (4) To encourage home study of the Biblo lessons. ... The plea being maele is as follows:—"Dear Frioiid,—Believing that you are interested in the great work'of tho.religion's training of the young, and that although -you aro unable to attend tlio Sunday school for study on Sunday afternoons,. you are willing to co-operate with us in the work and to take part in tlio study of the Bible along tlio lines of tlio course prescribed for. tho Sunday school, wo invito you to become n member of a, new department whoso chief aim is to secure the co-operation,, of parents and church members generally in the work of teaching tlio children, and'to foster Bible study among those who cannot conveniently attend meetings. for tho purpose." A resolution that tlio, above report bo adopted, and that thp scheme bo commended to tho favourable consideration of Sunday school 'superintendents and the session was unanimously adopted, and cards for membership in the Home Department are to bo distributed . forthwith. A list of books recommended for teachers' libraries was received -from the Rev. G. H. Jupp. This will-be placcd before tho vari-, oils sessions. TEACHERS' j'RAINING CLASS.' A scliemo was alfj'o brought forward in regard to tho establishment of'a Teachers' Training Class, tlieS objects of which were:— •(1.) To provide an organisation for the thorough training of a regjilar supply of Sunday school teachers. • (2) To furnish a course of study supplementary _ to, and; alternative with, that of the Senior Biblo Class for those who aro prepared to enter tho service of the Church in the Sunday school. • ■ Tho operations of the class aro to bo based on tlio following procedure:— (1) To meet at 2.30 p.m. every Sunday sis or eight months of tho, year - at one ot tho city churches.. . (2) To study the toachors'. training-course-drawn up by the Assembly..
