:—c GENERAL ORDERS. THE LORD ROBERTS TROPHY MATCH. Particulars concerning tlio Lord Roberts Trophy Rifle. Match for school cadets under sixtoen years of age, are announqsd in General Orders by the Council of Defence; Details of tiio regulations governing tho match have already been 'published. The following are tho local conditions and arrangements:— (a) Teams to consist of oight school cadets of, sixteen years of ago and under. Tho competition to take place before August 31, 190 S.
(b) Tho team to represent New Zealandwill be selected by tho Council of Defence from defence cadet corps at colleges and high schools : throughout tho Dominion. . (c) In order to facilitate selection, tlw Principal of each, college or.high school will, by .Tunc 80, forward to tho sccrotary, Defence Council, "the .names of tho. two" best shots among'the cadets, stating age, scores mado at last two matches, distanco and ranges, and description,of target used, (d) On sclcction of the team a time will ha fixed for match to he fired, probably, during last week in August, and arrangements mado fov match to bo fired at Treutham. ' Tho Council of Defenco regrots to announco tho death on May 15, of Captain John. Alexander M'Millan (Active List, unattached). Surgeon-Captains D.-G. Johnston and F. R. Maekay, of the New Zealand Medical Corps, are attached for medical duties to tho Carterton and Dannovirke Rifles respectively.- . Tho appointment of Captain Charles George Curtis, Active List (unattached), as an additional mombor of tho Looal Board of Military Examination (Nelson District) : is approved. ' ■ ' Tho New Zealand Volunteor Service medal has been awarded Bandsman ,W. H. Smith (Wollincton Garrison Band), and Bandmaster H. A. King (Third Battalion W.R.W Band). DISTRICT ORDERS. . Mason, New Zealand Medical Corps, and published in' tho form of a handy booklet) havo Been issued for tho information of officers commanding companies. • ■ Condemned Rifles.—Rifle-barrels condemned by the Inspecting-Armourer for fair wear-and-tear will be replaced at Government expense. Rifle-barrels condemned by the Inspecting Armourer for neglect, rust, etc., will bo charged for at ordinary rates. Individuals who.may require new barrels to ha refitted, audi if audi baircls are, in tho opinion of 1 the Inspecting Armourer, still serviceable, shall pay full price, for tho now barrel fitted.
