The conviction of Doctor Gillette, who was sentenced to imprisonment for perjury in October last, has been reversed on appeal, on tho ground that tho indictment was illegal. Dr. W. R. Gillette, formerly vice-president of the-Mutual Life Insurance Companjv was convicted in October of perjury in connection with the society's balance-sheet, and was sentenced to sis months' imprisonment.
