—♦ ... YESTERDAY'S MATCHES. Advantages was taken of the holiday yesterday by hookey enthusiasts to play off a number of. games. Tho pla'yers wore favoured with the most porfcct hockey I weather. • SATURDAY v. WEDNESDAY ASSOCIA- ; TION MATCH. A match that was looked forward to. with a considerable degree of interest was' the 1 representative fixture between the Saturday juniors and a Wednesday eleven. Tho game was*played on No. 2 ground Day's Bay, in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. Oram captained tho Saturday men, and Dingle the AVednesday players. Play was very even at first, but several certain scores wero prevented by the firstclass defenco of Dwyer, tho Saturday goalkeeper. The Saturday players took first blood, but tho score was sooii equalised. Shortly afterwards, Parker, who joined Uio Saturday team, as it was a man short, eluded the defenders, and. added to tho score. In the second spell, Upton equalised matters. Oram (Saturday) hit a beautiful goal, but ho was penalised for "sticks." Oram and England scorbd for tho Saturday team, and the game ended— Saturday team 4 . Wednesday team 2 Tho losers had the advantage in the first spell, but ths ordei was reversed in the latter half. ■ . 1 ST. JOHN'S v. GLENG(ARRY. St. John's v. Glengarry (Masterton). —This match, which was fought out on-tho ground, Miraroar, was evenly contested; and resulted in a-draw—one goal each. Miss Walker scored for St. John's, and Miss Davenport for Glengarry. Misses' Gordon | and Davenport, and the two full-backs playod well for Glengarry, and Misses Walker, Warren, Annio Patterson, and Fleming showed gopd form for St. John's. Mr. A. Patterson controlled tho game. The visitors were entertained at luncheon by the St. John's Club. Dr. A: W. Izard, on behalf of the Association, welcomed the Hinemoa and Glengarry Clubs. 'In the course of his remarks,' he mado references to the formation of an all New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Association, hearty' applause-being tho result. All tho ladies' associations in New Zealand will bo invited to send -delegates to a confprerico on the matter, to bo held in'Wellington-at'an early date. Miss M'Gregor returned' thanks- on behalf of tho Glengarry Club, and Mr. Macfarlaiie on the Hinomoa's behalf for the St! John's Club's hospitality. The teams left by ...tho four o'clock train for tho Wairarapa.

Y.M.C.A. MATCH. An-, interesting match was played at the Basin Reserve between representatives of the local and Masterton Y.M.C.A. | clubs. The gamo resulted in a' win for the local' team by three to nil. OTHER MATCHES. ■ Kia Toas played Kiwi on the Wellington ground, Miramar, the result being no score. This is the second time where two clubs hare played a drawn game. Mr. R. Bridge was referee. ■ , ■ i Technical School, defeated Terrace on. the Basin Reserve by two to nil, Miss Dredge scoring for the winners. Mr; L. P. Wrigley was .the referee.' ■ LADIES' ASSOCIATION. . The match , between St. John's (senior) and Hinemoa . (Carterton) proved very- interesting, and was played on the Vivian ground,' Miramar. The St. John's team wc-re unfortunate in this half of the game, for of three shots at goal one hit tho post and tjio ■ others missed by not more than about two inches. , The, Carterton ladies should - have also scored during this half, but for the inside-left badly mulling the ball about threo feet from the goal.
