CAPTURE OF GIPSY KING.
SWISS POLICE MAKE A DRAMATIC ARREST.' Emilo Haussman, "tho king of the gipsies,"- who is. wanted for - many crimes, was arrested at Zurich on April 10 under dramatic circumstances. The polico had surrounded his tent in a forest' near Bulach, and were on tho point of entering when lie bounded past them half' dressed. The polico fired. in the air, but tho fugitive continued until lie was overtaken,, by one of tho men, named Scbaufel-, berger. The gipsy attacked Schatiftflberger furiously, and would have strangled him but for tho arrival of his comrades, one of whom shot Haussman in the leg. Even then ho hobbled away to a rock, against which ho placed , his back and defied tho police to seize him. He, was handcuffed after a struggle, whereupon he remarked, "You ought to thank your stars that I left my revolver in tile tent, or somo of you would have joined me in a long journey. I congratulate you on capturing tho 'king of tho gipsies' for the first: time." . .. -'Tho gipsy bands, in' Central Europe paid tribute to Haussman, /whom thev regarded with awe and superstition. .
