• At a meeting of tho No-License Council held last' evening, the followin'g motions were .passed:— .-\ ' ■ ' "This meeting puts 'on record its great. ■ satisfaction that tho Licensing Uill_has. : passed its. second reading in the British House of Commons by ii large majority, and hails such an event a3 an encourag- . ing sign of progress in the causo of temperance reform^" "This meeting notes with pleasure tho .. issue of a manifesto,signed by tho Mayor . . and a. hundred leading citizens, including all the f medical men, of Oamaru, bearing testimony to the marked success of No-Licenso in the Oamaru-electo- ' ', rate." . ' . With regard to the Licensing Bill, it was noted that : of the 54- Labour members 51 voted for :tho' Bill. Tho Nfiw Zealand Allianco.has already cabled to Mr. Asquith its congratulations 011 tlie measure. Itcports in connection with the campaign rally to bo held 011 the Prince of Wales's Birthday indicated a very successful gathering- : ' V
