(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) V Dsnnsvirke, May 23. Three men arrested last week on a charge of stealing a quantity of liquor from the Masonic Hall were before Mr. M'Carthy, S.M., yesterday. There were several previous convictions against them, and the men were all sentenced to six months' imprisonment. A new library,- costing £2000, presented by Mr. Carnegie to Dannovirke, was opened yesterday by the Mayor amidst a fair gathering of the; public. The building is a handsome brick structure, provided with every convenience. The youngest child of Mr. C. K. Smith, of Makotuku, aged about three years, wandered to a creek near the house yesterday afternoon, and was drowned. Throe saddlers who had lads employed in factories after 1 o'clock on Saturday were fined 10s. and costs 75., though they explained that it was necessary to keep open and the boys had had their weekly half-holiday. The holiday has now been fixed by a poll of burgesses for Wednesday, so the difficulty will be obviated in future. :
