Probably the largest sale , of bloodstock that* has evor been held in , New Zealand will take place at' Christ-church*', in August nest; when the 'whole of tlie. horses owned by. the late Mr. G. G. Stead will .be submitted to auction absolutely, without rcsorve. In all seventy-four lots will. be-offered, and, as the stables at .Yaldhurst and Grasslea were never inhabited, by any-save;the most fashionably-bred horses in the land, owners and breeders will have a fine chance of pick- . ing* up'.good stock'.' It is not often that a horse like Multiform is, sent into tho sale ring, and,, on .account of -his excellent record ' on the track and at the stud,' there,:is,suro to be keen competition to secure him:' Being ' by Hotchkiss—jformo, lie comes'o'f the No. 18 ;'family, which has'been represented in this country by Trenton, Unirorm, Cruciform, and many other, brilliant .performers. During his .caroer at tho stud lie has sired some of, the best horses ever seen .in Australasia, among whom Noctmform. Boniform, and Golden: Slipper may bo noted. ' Mr. Bruce Lowe considered that Pulchra (the grand-dam of Multiform) ■ was one •of tho three best' mares-ever imported to the Dominion, ahdlalsoVexpresseu the opinion- that' great,-horses would be produced by . her! offspring. It is not, therefore, surprising that Multiform has done so - well •at tlie, stud. Other" sires; to bo offered are Boniform, Royal Artillery, : and- the St. Simon horse, Charlemagne 11. Of brood mares .there 'is a 'very. choice' assortment,' including La ' (dam, of Noctuiform), Problem (dam' of Solution), Ottorden (dam of' Boniform), and Aura (dam 'of Golden Slipper). The racehorses comprise Mhe horses that" raced in'the black and yellow this season, and a number of untried yeanlings find two'' and three-year-olds. The majority of them claim engagements, in tho classics or tho Spring. Handicaps, and will, be in full -training in August in view, of next season's" racing. Among the list I .notice a three-year-old, Perolina (Persimmon—Ea Carolina), which the-latei Mr. Stead purchased-on his last trip to the Old Country. Mr. Gerald SteacL has - furnished me with a complete list of the horses to be sold, . and I could supply information to anyone interested in the sale. Unfortunately' pressure of space, precludes my :going' into lengthy details .about the' different lots. : -~
