Westport, May 27,. ■■■ The 'case against Halinen and Anderson, charging them' with the murder of Ernest ' John Bourko, was resumed to-day. Arthur M'Donald corroborated the evidence of Cockory and Constable Buttar as to the admissions of Halinen in Cookery's hotel. John Eraser, bos'mi: of theVs.s. Cariopus, said tho two men on tho morning after tho ■■ alleged murder had bloodstains on' their clothes, and Halinen had some: on his right boot. The other witness repeated the' evidence given at, the inquest. The prosecution \ has concluded, and the defence will to'heari? ; 1 in the morning. / . ■> v THE " STICKING UP " CASES. Interest has not by any means diminished . in the "sticking-up" cases which, occurred on May 17, judging by the large: crowd of , people who assembled outside the, Magis- ' trate's Court this morning, when tho men alleged to bo implicated—Joseph Evans, , James Keegan, and . Frank . Bolton,. alias Brennan—were charged that, between May 11 and 15, they did break and. enter tho shop of James Thomas M-Harg, at Woolston,: and steal therefrom goods, to the value of £18. Thoy were ,also charged that on May 17, armed with "an offensive .weapon," a revolver, they assaulted and robbed Chas. Marshall and took from him-a gold ring, two keys,-a purse, and £4' in monev. the aggregate value being £5 7s. Chief • Detective Chrystall applied for a remand tilvJune 5, which was granted.. .
