THE MORALS OF THE THEATRE.
The Rev. Henry Worrail last week delivered a sermon in I ;, orost Street Methodist Church, Bondigo, his being "Tho > sin. and folly or some forms of amusement." He strongly denounced horse-racing and theatre-going.- Ho said -that wo wcro told tliat the theatro was an organisation for tho education of .the. people in morals. Did anyone believe that ? The theatro descended constantly, and appealed to the very iVorst passions of'mankind. In the theatres wora spoken innuendoes which wore 'double tonguo and, with a douhlo meaning. Passing along tho with • a double meaning. Passing .along the street they would seo some painted creatures, bejewelled and dressod richlv. ! One: would ask, "Who is that woman and when it was said, "Oh, she is an actreSs,"'the lip ' went down, and there was a Ipok of 'team. The wife who stayed homo'with her little child, and taught her to pray "Our Father," would bo at tho Groat White Throne. when the actress, who beguiled men from domes- ' ticity, would be rotting in oblivion. ■
