MAORILAND S.S. COMPANY, ■ To-morrow the Maoriland S.S. Company*e steamer Torgauten is expected to arrive from Auckland. The Ennerdate, which was to sail for Nolson to-morrow, with timber, ox Hamstead for the construction of the Nelson wharf, is not expected to get away before the end of the week. THE lONIC. > Shortly after midday yesterday,'the Shaw; Sarill, and Albion Company's'liner lonic, left for London. This trip the vcsseli will not call at Monte Video, but makes a call at Rio do Janeiro. Tliore were many who considered that the vessel could not he got in readiness to com- , mence her long voyage before Wednesday. Captain; Evans, Marino Superintendent of the company, and his staff, ably assisted by Mr. Ward, chief stevedore, havo had gangs working con- 1 tinuously. /' The tedious task of discharging'the damaged cargo, in Nos. 1 and 2 holds, .was done in remarkably smart time, and is supposed to constitute a record. The large number of passengers, who had booked by the vessel, received every possiblo assistance from Mr. .BeVanV the company's passenger clerk. The lonic has taken all tho tallow that was in No. 1 hold, and the undamaged cargo in No. 2 hold.
