A lady, requiring / a general help,.'engaged a girl, who was to . amve. on a'certain' date, preceded by her box; ;. On the day named the' girl arrived at breathless, as though from haste made to get'.- there; and asked the lady, if her box had arrived: She proceeded, to explain that- there' had been trouble over the box in connection with it's getting taken; to a wrong house, arid that, further, sho was sixpence short iii the sum required to .pay the expressman. As she was talking, .however,-the express, with her'box, drove .up; the driver brought thebox irisidp the gate,. and' was then .intercepted by the gir]; tho "outcome,; being the ' return of the box- to",the express. ..Then;;the; girl went to - the, lady, and, said there had bebri some mistake,- and; shp'l'must drive back with the express;'but would' return shortly. "But 'Svhy not : leave your box 'queried the -lady: The reply was again an - allusion to some mysterious mistake, but, the girl- assured the employer that she would return not later than 5.30 that afternoon, and off sho drove. Graham, of Manawa,,- Toniii. ; Tho Rev. V. H; Kitcat officiated, and tho bride was given away by: Mr. A. J. Rutherfurd, of' " Moroa," Alfredton. Miss Winnie Saker, of .Masterton, acted as" bridesinaid, arid Mr. Machin : as eroomsman." At Nireaha on Wednesday Miss Barbara Christensen,: daughter of Mr. -L: C. Christen-'fen,-of Putara, was married to Mr.'Wajy, of Halcombe.
