CLERCYMEN AND SOCIALISM.
Sir,— I Tho' attitude' Exhibited by the Rev. I J. J. North and somo of 1113 fellow ministers at tho Queen's statue and elsewhere in tho presence of aggressive Socialism-reminds me vory much of tho fluttering movements of a helpless bird under tho influence of the fascinating spell of a boa constrictor. It seems to me; at any rate, a great pity that' tliey cannot J3o strong, and acquit yourselves liko men, in the presence of 'our common foe." Instead, they are constantly giving up to tho enemy one position after another without oven a struggle or any show of resistance. In so doing they bring 110 credit on religion, tho Church, or-themselves, and will ultimately leave themselves as destitute and naked of everything 'worth having as an Australian black fellow from tho interior who has never seen a wliito man', and who, in his naked person, is the most true and ideal representative of long ages of practical Socialism to bo found in any part of this wide world.—l am, etc., May 9. • INDIVIDUALIST..
