The monthly meeting -, of the' Mastorton County Council was held to-day, when there wore present: Councillors. 'W." J. Welch (Chairman), W- Harris, J. Miller, Jno. Morris, H. O. and A Murray. ■ Mr. F; C. Daniel! waited iipon tho Council to ask. that the White Bush' road bo cut out of the heavy traffic by-law area. It was decided to accede to the' request on Mr. Daniell depositing £100 as a' guarantee that the road would be loft-in the same state as it is liovr. . ' Correspondence' was received as follows: — From the Akitio County. Council, notifying that £100 of thirds had been.applied for, for expenditure on-tho |Waihoki Valley road. From H. Burling,' jun., remitting a contribution of £500, and asking for permission to erect two gates across 'Saunders's 1 Road. : It was'resolved to allow Mr,'. Burling" to-erect the gates for three/months.- r ' Tho following remittances : were received from the Treasury:—Robicson's Road loan, £200; ■ Opaki District .road/ £300; Al-fredton-Weber- road, £1000. From AVairarapa South County .Council; half cost Waingawa Bridge repairs, £9 Os. Bd.; caretaker s wages, Tiratahi water supply, "£63; from Manawatu County Council, £15 Is. Id., special, rates. - From the Treasury :' East Coast road loan, ~£2625; Patanui bridge grant, £250; ' Blairlogie-Homewood road grant, £1000; Alfredton-Weber road, £500; 'Upper Opaki road, £258. 3s. From' tho .Receiver of Land Rev,enuo: £10 .thirds from A. K. Hansen's section." ; From the Secretary to the Treasury, stating .that tho term "in kny one year "■ referred, to in Section 67 of " Tho Local Bodies Loans Act, 1001,"/ covers the period from April 1-in the one year to March 31 following, .and that tho advances are assumed to bo lent on. the date of the. remittance, and that, although the' Minister can ally approvo of £12,000 for .two. successive years' expenditure,, only,'£6ooo can. be actually '.paid to a l co.untj' council in any one year. ,- .- ■ , ..: ' From, thesecretary-, of the Masterton Chamber of 'Co.iTimorcej';stating' that the Chamber was, not in .'a-', position, to formulate a' schomo for improving tho northern approach to .the town'of-.
