Captain Robinson; of the.Wairuna, stated that he sounded two blasts on the whistle —a signal that the course was to be diverted to port. Immediately afterwards the lookout reported, a. green light ahead. It was then half , a mile away. As soon as lie "ot green to green ho reduced tho speed to°2i knots, gave two more blasts, and put tho helm further to starboard. He then saw two lights of a' sailing vessel, and ordered the engines to bo reversed. Two or. three minutes before the collision tho vessel had ' lost headway, but the Moonah was dropping down on tho wind and tide. Ho lowered tho 1 boats and picked up the MoonahV crew.
