FOOTBALL.
All the city rugby dubs, with the exception of tho colleges, held practice games at'Miramar on Saturday. strong ivind blowing over the flat caused considerable annoyance, aiul made well-judged kicking impossible. Nearly all the clubs had sufficient musters to enable each to play two games, with mixed teams picked from the first and second grades, teams from the lower ranks playing among themselves. Improved form was shown, and it is evident that all aro training, assiduously in view of the rapidly approaching competition matches. The coming tour of the English and Welsh team is also a great incentive to old stars to get into form, and is putting renewed vigour into all aspirants for places in the first flights of tho football world.
