Tlio Primo Minister, in reply, said tho request of tho-deputation for the completion of tho survey .was reasonable, and ;would receive every consideration; \\itn regard to now railways or for the extension of oxisting lines whon practicable, ho cquld piiJy say the Government had givpn no plcdgo with, regard to any of these, and. could giyo none now. They would be guided entirely by what they thought was\in .the ..best interests of tho settlors, irrespective of political consideration, and every district in tlio Dominion would bo treated , as fairly as possiblo.
