ENTERTAINMENTS.
OPERA HOUSE. That stirring drama, "The Power of the Cross," as interpreted by Mr. Edwin Geach's dramatic combination, was well received again last night. It is a full feast of sensation, and is having a very popular run. It will bo staged again to-night for (he last time. THEATRE ROYAL. A pleasant addition to the programme submitted by Fuller's Entertainers last night was the Cockney comedietta, " Me and 'Br," played by Mr. Fred Graham and Miss Nellie Dent. It was produced last night for tho first time in Australia, by arrangement with Mr. Arthur Godfrey, of London. It is a bright little; sketch, full of humour and sentiment, and it was made the most of .by tho two talented comedians. Master Rupert Christie, the New South Wales gold medallist soprano, was heartily welcomed on his reappearance. 110 is a clever little fellow, and not tho least of his merits as a vocalist is the clearness of' liis enunciation. "Count Macdonald," the queer Scotch comedian, was also well received, and altogether llie entertainment was fully up to, tho. well-known Fuller standard. Several more artists new to Wellington are billed for to-night.

Whaite,; representative for Mr. Herbert Flemming, lias arrived in town to make the 'necessary arrangements for the visit of the company, opening, at the Opera House on:.Saturday.next. With.the exception of one or. two old favourites, , the company will be entirely new'to'New Zealand; as Mr. Flemming only returned to Australia from England with his hew company in time to open in Melbourne last Boxing night. Miss Beatrice Day, '.who. still holds tho position of leading, lady, will be supported by several new artists from England. It has been decided to open the season here with the London success, "The Mummy and the Humming Bird," a play in four acts, by Isaac Henderson, which enjoyed a " run of over 400 nights in London, and is now being played by five different companies through America. Tho piece was first, produced in Australia at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne, last Boxing night, wherfe it ran for a,season of, three weeks to crowded business. Besides (his piece, Mr. Herbert Flemming w&c fortunate 'whilst in England in securing no less than eight-now plays, seven of which will be produced during the company's stay in Wellington. . "FACINp THE MUSIC." Mr.'Prank Thornton,'the ivell-known theatrical manager, lias generously given permission for two performances of "Facing the Music" in aid- of the Victoria College Gymnasium Fund. The Concert Chamber of "the ■Town, Hall has been engaged, anil, under the direction of Mr. F. W. Roberts, an excellent entertainment is promised. A strong caste, including Misses Ida Lennox, Mildred Longton, Olive Moore,: and May Neamann, and Messrs. Lyon, A: W. Newton,. I<\ W. Roberts, F. A.-do la. Mare, and Dr. D. N. Isaacs, lias boon arranged, and Miss Ethelwyn will conduct an orchestra of well-known local players. ; V OUR -BOYS." ■ . On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week the Mountebanks Amateur Dramatic Co. will give their entortainment in aid of'lthp Veterans' Home at Auckland, which is in need of much financial aid. The comedy chosen, "Our Boys," is a famous one, and . tho of the players aro a guarantee Hint it will be well done. Mr. Walter Bastin takes the leading part, and the part taken by Mr. E. Y. Mills' is said to suit him better than any lie .has had bofore. , The -ladies taking part are, Misses Olive Moore, M. and T. Pollock, and L. Osborne. Tho performances are to be under tho patronage of His Excellency tho Governor and nil the officers of the Defcnco Department.
