'That a petition be, set up and sent round tli'o town and country for signatures, asking tho Government to acquire the land adjacent to tho foreshore at Waimarama. That tho Prime Minister and .his ..colleagues ibe asked to-per-sonally inspect Waimarama with . fcho . view of acquiring it for tho people. .
The. meeting displayed a strong desiro to request tho Government to acquire for closer European settlement all the land not required by tho Maoris for their own use, and one sneaker moved in that direction, but tho Mayor refused to allow. discussion- on: tho ground that it was outside .tho purpose for which the mooting .was called.
