Tho London "Sportsman" says:—"ln tho Lancashire match (which was won by the homo team by 20 points to 4) tho Now Zealanders, though at times showing good football, were outstayed and_ outgenoralled by tho clever, activo Lancastrians. The colonials wero without tho services of Wright, Tyler, and Rowe, while they played a man short in tho second half, owing to' Wynyard being injured. In the second spoil' the visitors mado strenuous efforts, but fa'ilod to break the Lancashire line, Messenger managed to place a couple of penalty goals.
