Chief Justico Hunter, at Victoria; British .Columbia, declared that tho "Natal Act" (imposing an education test on-immigrants— a measure recently adopted by tho Provincial Legislature of, British Columbia) is inoperative as regards Japanese, because it .is against the Anglo-Japanese treaty. An appeal to tho Supremo Court and to tho Privy Council.is,.foreshadowed. The Act in the meanwhile cannot be onforced.
