ARBITRATION COURT.

The Arbitration Court .' has delivered its award in the Genoi'al 'Labourers' and Chemical .Manure Workers' disputes., In the former dispute the Court lias decided that all labourers engaged at. pick and shovel work other than thosb working in connection with" building operations shall be paid hot les3 than Is. 'per hour. . Labourers employed on any other uiiskillod work shall :be paid-'nob jess than IO.Jd. per . hour.'. Sanitar.v. iwork and strcct-cleaning and the cleaning of channels (but not ditches) not- involving work of construction ;is not within the awards In Vcase any question arises as to whether tlio work ' is. or '-.is not. within ' this oxoniption, it shall' be decided by the chairman of tho Conciliation Board. : In tlio chemical manure workers' disputo tho Court lias awarded 48 hours a week and a wage of not less than lljdi per. hour. Overtime shall bo rates and a quarter for the first tlireo. hours, and time and a half thereafter, doublo time on Sundays, Gooc Friilay -and' Christmas. Day, Youths maj be employed at not loss than' the following rates:—First year, .£l. per week, Second £1 10s., and thereafter the minimum pro scribed by tho award. Invercargill, Febmarv 22., Tho Arbitration Court heard legal, argu ment rind reserved its decision in the com pensatiqn case, ro Walter Rouse, who was injured in tho New Zealand; Loan Company's storos at tlio Bluff, and died.
