Ten persons wero killed and 32 wore injured. Tho Descartes 'is n third-class cruiser, 3970 tons, 21 knots, completed in IS9G, at a cost of ' <£33+,725. ' On .February 9 a steam pipo burst on tho French cruiser Jeanuo d'irc, lying at Rabat, Morocco, three men being killed and ten others seriously injured.
