Not even tlio most sanguine supporters of Mr. Kidston were prepared for the complete rout of tlio Philp party-.that-is revealed by the returns of to-day's general elections, following on the dissolution asked for by Mr. Philp.Although tlio returns are not complete, and the postal, voto has yet to be CQUnted, it is not considered that tho result will, bo materially , altered. ' , Present appearances show that Mr. PKilp, tho Premier, has suffered defeat at tho. hands of Labour in his own stronghold, Xownsville. •. Mr. Stephens, a member of tho Cabinet, has been defeated for South Brisbane, while Mr. .Leahy, another /member, has been beaten for Warromo.
