During a discussion at the : Auckland ■Presbytery, upon tho.question of Sunday desecr'aa Pukekohe representative'(Mr. StevenBon) declared that this question was a troublo to him .in his own district. As a superintendent of;a Sunday School, says the "N.Z. Herald," he deplored the fact, that on a Sunday, as he passed along tho road to teach in tho Sunday ( School, ho saw a reaper and binder at work.' The reapers and binders were, ho said, working all through the place. They would not havo been working but for the starting of tho creameries. That was the thin end of the wedge. Now they went even further, and carted hay on Sundays. Ho knew of old people in Pukckolio who had opposed Sunday labour bitterly at ono.timo, but who wore now falling in with it. / A sharp discussion took place at the meeting of tho Conciliation. Board at Geraldino between Mr. Thorn and a witness, who said that ho knew a union man who was so disgusted with the union that ho resigned from it. .The witnoss gave the namo of the man, whorcupon Mr. Thorn said that this individual had resigned because be had not tho pluck to appoar before the Board and give evidence, and the union was bettor without such a man. Mr. Jones, (addressing Mr. Thorn): "It shows that the man does not approve of your actions." (Laughter). Mr. Thorn said that before this man had been summoned to give evidence, thcro had been no more onorgotic organiser for the union. He (Mr. Thorn} had the power to have this man fined or imprisoned for disobeying his subpoena, and he intended to exercise his power,"' .
