—« At a meeting of the Executive of the New Zealand Civil Servants' Association lastovoning, attention was drawn to an article in The 'Dominion of January 17 on the effect of the new Superannuation Act on tho compullory insurance policies of Civil Serrants. The point on which dislussion hinged m'ostly was tho terms lpon which the hitherto, compulsory insurance' policy could be surrendered if ■members came under the new Superannuation Act proposals. To continue under tho old regime as well as contribute under the now Act would, it was held, bear too heavily upon some Civil Servants. Therefore, in surrendering 'the compulsory insurance policies (as permitted by the new Act), the Dest terms possible are desired, so that the benefit of back shall not bo lost. It was 6tated that the New Zealand Insurance Department was about to submit alternative proposals, and the Executive of the Association preferred to wait to ascertain what those proposals wore beforo criticising the provisions of tho Act.
