Auckland, Decpmbor. 27. _ Speaking to an interviower regarding his suggestion as to the rebuilding of Parlia mont House by means of . a national sub seription, Sir Joseph Ward said: ''Aftei the holidays are over I intend to make cn-' quirics with a view of ascertaining tho feeling on the subject throughout tho Dominion. As 1 have already said,. the idea did not originate with me j the suggestion was made to mc, and I think it is a very good one. Tho people of New Zealand are doing well, and they have been doing well for years, and if air united the amount required; could bo raised without any difficulty. It is not inoreiy a sontimental matter; it has its practical side, and if.the proposal were carried out it would be a splendid object-lesson to tho outsido world. 1 can quickly ascertain tho statu of public opinion on the subject when I get to work. If it is not taken tip with enthusiasm it would, of course, be.usoless to proceed further in tho matter."
