WAIRARAPA NOTES.
'(from our special 'correspondent.) There, are now ice-making machines fitted in factories in Fcatherston, Carterton, and Masterton. Two, are run by cooperative dairy companies, and one by privato enterprise. All are doing' good business. Tbd Masterton factory is at present turning out three hundredweight a day, but thero is a demand for fully three times that amount. It is stated that tho dairy inspectors ware to have begun their duties early.in December,'but that tho business has been deferred in ordefr to givo the men a certain amount of tuition. - Swaggers in tho Wairarapa are not plentir ful. ■ The avorage along the East Coast is .said to be never more than two a day, and these two are usually, professional, downers. Years ago the ■ number sometimes ran to tfen and twelve a day.' ' ■ . >... .
